Have you heard of the baby food diet?
Unbelievably, its where celebrity weight loss experts like Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Tracy Anderson recommend a ‘baby food cleanse’ consisting of easily digestible meals like smoothies and oatmeal. Don’t get me wrong, that really can work for short-term weight loss and even longer with a modified exercise regimen. Too bad it seems that women keep falling for unrealistic weight loss shortcuts and have resorted to literally chomping on baby food.
Now there will be a shortage of Gerber cans in the baby aisle near your grocery store.
To be fair, the baby food diet has a 86% positive rating by users at dietsinreview.com, though its easy to say most of those people would be pregnant women or just searchin for the next weight loss fad.
I think the baby food diet sucks on so many levels. Maybe I should grow up, but baby food lacks the nutritional requirements adults need. Not to mention, its a boring temporary fix while you hope to lose weight for a few weeks (and maybe hopelessly gain it back) because you are not gonna down baby food cans day after day. You are reading this because you know that’s unrealistic.
My verdict is simple: You can try the baby food to lose weight quickly, and it may work, and you might lose 3-7 pounds but that wont keep happening for long. Even Jennifer Aniston didn’t claim to feed from Gerber cans all day, so why should you?
